Master Fryer

First time into the master fryer. The owner was really nice and friendly along with his assistant. We enjoyed a chat and the food was cooked fresh in front of me. Took them home and I had small cod and large chips and a large sausage and chips. The large chips were halfed for later They were all delicious, fresh tasted great and plentiful. Will definitely revisit. Highly recommend

Walked in for a quick lunch and left genuinely impressed. The place is spotless, service is friendly and the food came out hot and fresh. The cod was perfectly cooked with a light crispy batter and the chips were golden and fluffy inside. Portions are generous and you get that proper old school chippy feel without it feeling greasy or heavy. Prices are decent and it is the kind of spot where you know exactly what you are getting every time. Great for a takeaway or to sit in for a relaxed bite.

Great fish and chips massive portions and reasonably priced, just 15 minute's away from the seafront, I always pick up my fish and chips from here and then drive to the seafront to eat while enjoying the sea.

Very nice freshly cooked fish and chips and friendly service. Nice crisp batter on the fish and well cooked chips. Good portion sizes and decent value. Medium cod, small chips and mushy peas cost £10.50. Nice to have the option to eat in with a plate and a proper knife and fork for the same cost as takeaway, and the food tasted all the better for being served up directly after being cooked.

Simply the best fish and chips in Portsmouth, and I would dare to say in the whole South Coast. An authentic British experience. I had heard from many people that Master Fryer was something else, and it was a ‘see to believe’ situation. When I was ordering, the lady taking the order asked me if it was for a single person or to share, listen to her. I took medium fish and medium chips, it was enough to put a strong man to sleep, and believe me, I eat a lot. The fish had an excellent taste, the batter was amazing and bubbly, and the chips were something else, it was a mountain of them, exquisite and crunchy. If someone ever asks me which fish and chips in England is the best, Master Fryer will always be my answer. I’m going to leave a picture of the food itself, and one with my hand as a reference (I’m a tall guy, so take that into account)

Great quality fish and chips, plus friendly service just 3 minutes from the ferry terminal exit. Selling cream soda was an added plus! Set us up perfectly for our onward journey. We'll be back!

Friendly service and generous portions. Owner was really kind and gave us 2 boxes of orange juice on the house and an extra portion of fries. We ordered 3 pieces of medium cod; 2 portions of cod roe; 10 pieces of scampi and one small fries which was more than enough to feed 3 adults. Everything was really well fried and hot from the fryer. A little greasy if anything, but no complaints otherwise. Would recommend.
